This scented geranium exudes the familiar "citronella" scent you smell in candles and oils to repel insects. While the citronella oil you buy in the store comes from lemongrass, which has a higher concentration of the oil, this scented geranium also contains the repellent chemical in smaller quantities.
As a tender perennial, grow in pots that you can move in and outdoors as the seasons change. In most zones, this plant will not survive outdoors in the colder months. Place pots of this geranium around your patio, deck or outdoor eating area for a natural repellent and enjoy its lovely, delicate lavender/pink blooms throughout the summer. Deadhead throughout the season and trim back stems to encourage bushier growth.
