Gladiolus sport 10 - 16 flowers on spikes of ruffled flowers on stems reaching 3 - 5 feet tall. Amiga produces a dramatic flush of vibrant red blooms with semi-double, ruffled petals on sturdy stalks reaching 3 - 5 feet tall. Deer and rabbit resistant. Plant in repeating clusters through your mixed border for drama and rhythm that draws the eyes through the garden.

Plants will benefit from support in heavy rain or windy conditions. Adapts to many soils, but will not thrive in heavy clay. Prefers full sun and humus-rich, medium wet but well-draining soil. Great for covering unsightly foliage after spring blooms wither. Long lasting in flower arrangements.

In zones 1 - 7, dig up the bulbs in the fall before first frost and store in a cool, dry, dark area until next spring. A cool basement is ideal.
