'Shirley Temple' produces fragrant, double flowers that begin as soft pink buds, open as heavily ruffled blush pink blooms, and mature to ivory white as they age. When not in bloom, peonies grow in neat mounds measuring 3 feet by 3 feet with lush foliage that remains green throughout the season. Excellent cut flowers that can last a week in vases.
Peonies are long-lived perennials that are relatively low maintenance and pest free. Peonies do not transplant well, so pick their location carefully. They prefer full sun but may appreciate afternoon shade in hotter climates. Blooms may require staking as they tend to arch to the ground, especially after heavy rains. Makes a beautiful informal hedge or try using them to line a walkway or driveway.
